Quilt Blocks & Cross Stitch

March was a busy month with family visiting and Chloe’s birthday. I will share more of her celebration when I get the photos together. Right now I would like to share all my Work in Progress and a finish. This quilt block is for my quilting bee. This is the March block requested. It is a four square block consisting of two square in square blocks and two 9 patch. She wanted solids for the square in square and scrappy for the rest. I love how this turned out and can’t wait to see all her blocks put together. This is a great quilt to use up all that stash.

 

This was the February block for the Bee. Colors requested were green and blue. The block type is a modified bento box. I think her color choices are very calming and the blocks should all look good together.

 

Still working on that baby quilt for my nephew. Maybe it will be done by the time he graduates high school. I think I am stalling because I plan to do a strip of applique letters for his name across the top and have not taken the time to print out some letters and pick my font. They are planning to move with in the next 2 months so that buys me some time to finish and send after they have moved.

 

I finished my Woodland Sampler. Woot Woot! I changed up the colors on the house in December, now it feels more like a house I would live in. I love the last block indicating the year and the little birds are so sweet. I think I am going to try and frame this myself. My Mother-in-law framed some art work last year and she has given me hope that I could possibly frame my stitching and it look half way decent. I think I will go to Hobby Lobby when I have some time to hang out back in the frame section and see if I can figure something out.

 

After finishing my Woodland Sampler I pulled out my Mirabilia “Under the Friendship Tree”. This one is slow and steady The rose border along the top is lovely but I can not wait to get to those little girl dresses. Right now this is my only cross stitch in progress. I like to have 2 going so I can switch back and forth according to my mood. I have decided on my next pattern to start and will be kitting it up soon.

 

Here is a little something I have been working on to hang up in Chloe’s playroom. It is a handful of yo-yo’s I sewed onto a piece of fabric spelling out I Love You. I just need to sew on a border and make a backing. Well that is my update for March. I am looking forward to April and hopefully some warmer weather. Take Care.

Cross Stitch Finish & WIPs

This was such a fun cross stitch. Every time I look at it I smile. I made mine a little smaller and plan to frame it to hang in my craft room. This was a free pattern I found over at dorkstitch. Here is the link to the pattern titled Darth Vader Cookies.

 

I finally started stitching the Mirabilia cross stitch pattern #32 titled “Under the Friendship Tree”.  This is my favorite Mirabilia pattern and that is saying a lot because I love most of their patterns. I have a few in my stash and they just released a new mermaid one that is gorgeous and certainly will make its way into my stash.

Here is a closer look at the pattern. I think since I have a little girl whom loves to get all dressed up in pretty dresses this pattern hits me close to home. So excited to get stitching on this. We will see how long it takes me.

Here is a look at my progress on another cross stitch pattern I am working on this year. This is the Woodland Sampler by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. This one is fun because a lot of people are stitching it also. Each month they send you the pattern that goes into the box for that month and by the end of the year you should have 12 months filled with cute woodland themed stitchyness. I am a little behind. Baked Goods & Hot Cocoa Cross stitch

I have two cross stitch patterns I finished the stitching on so far in 2013. This one is called Baked Goods by Little House Needleworks. This pattern is from their 2011 ornaments and is #7. The only thing I changed was the linen. I used 30 count Old Mill Java that I had on hand instead of WDW 30 count straw linen. I plan to sew this one up as a Christmas ornament or will use it as a cabinet door hanger.

This is the 2nd finish. It is called Hot Cocoa by Little House Needleworks. I forgot to put in the little brown do-dads that go in the whip cream and will do that when I sew this one up also as a Christmas ornament or a cabinet door hanger. This pattern is part of Little House Needleworks 2012 ornaments and is #7. I stitched the pattern with all the same recommended colors and linen. This is my first time using the28 count Weeks Dye Works Gingham Linen in color Tin Roof. I love this linen. I will definitely use it again. I might even find away to incorporate it in one of my quilts.

I am in the process of getting the materials to start 2 new patterns I am so excited to start both of them that I will work on 2 at the same time. I have been so good up until now to only work on one at a time. Oh well we all know that wouldn’t last long. I am finishing up a free pattern I found that is just for fun. I will show pictures when I am done and will share my new wips when I get all the materials. Happy Stitching All.

Beach-y Mood Stitched

I finished the stitching on my Beach-y Mood cross stitch pattern by The Cross-Eyed Cricket. I plan to get it framed up and hang it on the wall. I am starting up a new cross stitch for the holidays.
